Thurston joins hospital staff

JASPER — Emergency physician L. Ashlin Thurston, M.D., has been appointed to the active medical staff at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

She received her medical degree at Eastern Virginia Medicine School in Norfolk and completed a residency with the Drexel Emergency Medicine Residency Program at Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia. She is board certified in emergency medicine and is a member of the American College of Emergency Physicians.
Previously, Thurston was chief of emergency at Bayne-Jones Army Community Hospital in Fort Polk, La. She served a four-month tour in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
