From Local Sources

JASPER — A Jasper teen suffered injury Thursday morning when he rode his scooter into a car at 36th and St. Charles streets.

Linda L. Neukam, 63, Ireland, was eastbound on 36th Street, stopped at the St. Charles Street intersection in a 2011 Dodge Caliber at the time of the 10:43 a.m. accident, according to the Jasper Police Department.

Neukam proceeded until she noticed a southbound 2017 Taotao scooter driven by Cameron J. Breyette, 17, Jasper, continuing on its way.

Police said Neukem advised that she stopped her Dodge after seeing the approaching scooter and Breyette continued, sending the scooter into the driver’s side front of her vehicle.

Breyette suffered a cut right knee and was transported by ambulance to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, according to police. A hospital spokeswoman said he was treated and released.

Damage was estimated at $1,500 to the Neukam Dodge and $200 to the Taotao scooter.

No citations were issued.
