IRELAND — One car was totaled in a two-vehicle collision Monday afternoon east of Ireland.
Ruth A. White, 75, Jasonville, was eastbound on State Road 56 in a 2011 Toyota Corolla when the 3:30 p.m. mishap occurred at County Road 180N, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
White was attempting to turn into a private drive when she failed to see an oncoming 2008 Jeep Wrangler driven by Colton M. White, 16, Otwell, according to a deputy.
The Jeep struck the passenger side of the turning Corolla, causing major damage to the car, according to a deputy.
As a result of the collision, the Corolla stopped on top of a mailbox in the 3800 block of State Road 56.
Total damage was estimated between $10,000 and $25,000.
The sheriff’s office said the White Corolla was totaled and was towed by a Uebelhor & Sons wrecker.
A report did not note injury to either driver.
