DUBOIS — Total damage topped $5,000 in an SUV-versus-deer collision Thursday just north of Dubois.
Danielle M. Betz, 24, Dubois, was southbound on State Road 545 in a 2016 Toyota RAV4 when the 9:40 a.m. accident occurred 300 feet south of Kalb-Zehr Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said the Betz SUV collided with a deer that came onto the highway from the east.
The deer continued on after the collision and the deputy was unable to locate it.
Damage was estimated between $5,000 and $10,000 but the vehicle was able to be driven from the scene.
