BRETZVILLE — A tow truck was needed after a Tuesday accident the driver said was caused by his attempt to avoid a deer in the roadway.
Damien K. Wigodinski, 21, St. Anthony, was northbound on State Road 162 in a 1999 Lexus RX300 when the 12:47 a.m. mishap occurred south of Countrywood Estates, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Wigodinski lost control of the SUV after trying to avoid the animal. The Lexus ran off the roadway into a ditch before it stopped back on the highway, according to the sheriff’s office.
Damage was estimated to have exceeded $5,000.
A deputy said Wigodinski declined EMS at the scene.
A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
