BRETZVILLE — Fatigue reportedly factored into a Monday morning mishap north of Bretzville.
Catherine A. Auffart, 52, Ferdinand, was southbound on State Road 162 in a 2018 Toyota RAV4 when the 9:50 a.m. accident occurred 1,000 feet north of County Road 420S, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Auffart told a deputy she nodded off at the wheel. Her SUV exited the west side of the highway and struck a guardrail with its passenger side. The sheriff’s department said Auffart awoke, regained control of the vehicle and stopped it in a safe location.
Damage to the RAV4’s passenger side was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
Auffart escaped injury and was able to drive from the scene.
