HOLLAND — A motorist avoided injury when her SUV struck a deer Wednesday afternoon north of Holland.
Makenzie L. Whitsitt, 28, Huntingburg, was northbound on State Road 161 in a 2013 GMC Yukon when the 5:01 p.m. accident occurred south of Old Road 64, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies said Whitsitt’s Yukon struck a deer that entered onto the highway from the west.
Damage to the GMC was estimated between $1,000 and $2,500.
The deer was located deceased at the scene.
