JASPER — Police say a three-vehicle mishap Wednesday resulted when an SUV disregarded a red light.
Melvin W. Meyer, 89, Jasper, was northbound on Newton Street in a Chevrolet Traverse when the 4:26 p.m. accident occurred at 13th Street, according to the Jasper Police Department.
Police say Meyer failed to stop at the traffic light and his SUV struck a westbound Toyota Camry driven by Ramona J. Schaefer, 67, Jasper.
The Meyer Traverse continued northbound and then struck a Hyundai that was stopped in the southbound lane of Newton Street.
Ruston D. Welborn, 40, Huntingburg, the driver of the Hyundai, as well as Meyer escaped injury, according to police.
Schaefer was injured and was treated and released at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, according to authorities.
Police said there was damage to the front of the Meyer Traverse and to the driver’s doors of the other two vehicles.
