HAYSVILLE — Total damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000 when an SUV rear-ended a pickup truck Thursday afternoon at Haysville.
Daniel L. Meyer, 56, Jasper, had slowed his southbound 2001 Ford Ranger on U.S. 231 to turn into a gas station north of the intersection with State Road 56 at the time of the 5:01 p.m. accident, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy said the Meyer Ford was rear-ended by a 2019 Lincoln MKC driven by Cody D. Baker, 33, Jasper.
Baker said he had picked up his cellphone to silence the ring and had dropped it in the seat, according to a deputy. He reached to retrieve the phone and did not see Meyer stopped to turn in time.
After the collision, a Ruxer Ford wrecker towed the Lincoln. The Meyer Ranger was able to be driven from the scene.
