IRELAND — No injuries were reported after an SUV failed to negotiate a curve Thursday afternoon along a county road on the west side of the county.
Sherry Morey, 33, Jasper, was eastbound on Old Petersburg Road in a 1996 Ford Explorer when the 1:24 p.m. mishap occurred 400 feet north of State Road 56, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies reported Morey failed to negotiate a curve and her SUV exited the north side of the roadway. The Explorer ended up on its side facing north, according to the sheriff’s department.
Morey told deputies she had tried to slow for the curve but her vehicle’s brakes did not work well. The Explorer slid and landed in a roadside ditch.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
A Ruxer Ford wrecker assisted.
