SUV encounters Dubois-area slick roadwayAugust 26, 2019
From Local Sources
DUBOIS — An Orange County motorist cited roadway conditions as a factor in a Tuesday mishap just east of the Dubois Crossroads.
Harold E. Alspaugh, 65, French Lick, was eastbound on State Road 56 in a 2007 GMC Envoy when the 4:45 p.m. accident occurred 250 feet west of County Road 575E, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Alspaugh, who lost control of his vehicle in a curve, said it felt like his SUV encountered an oil spot and his tires just slid.
A deputy said the SUV traveled off the south side of the highway and stopped against a tree line.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
