SUV drives from scene of Haysville-area deer collision

HAYSVILLE — A Jasper man was able to drive his SUV from the scene of a Wednesday morning collision with a deer east of Haysville.

Scottie L. Blocker, 52, Jasper, was eastbound on State Road 56 in a 2018 Honda Pilot when the 7:35 a.m. accident occurred 500 feet west of Kellerville Road, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.

The sheriff’s department said a deer coming from the south side of the highway ran into the passenger side of the Blocker Honda, striking it in the right fender.

Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
