JASPER — A Sunday morning report of a man sleeping inside his vehicle in a business’ parking lot resulted in an arrest.
The Jasper Police Department was called to a manufacturing business’ parking lot in the 800 block of West Division Road at 10:42 a.m. after employees there had unsuccessfully tried to wake a man sleeping in his vehicle.
Police made contact with the man, identified as Steven M. Snipes, 43, who had no current address.
Snipes was allegedly found to possess a small amount of methamphetamine in his pants pocket. A search also located two metal pipes with burnt residue on them and a DVD box with a mirror inside it.
A police K-9 brought to the scene to assist had given a positive indication to the presence of drugs, police said.
Authorities booked Snipes into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:26 a.m. on preliminary charges of Level 6 felony possession of methamphetamine and misdemeanor possession of paraphernalia.
A Uebelhor & Sons wrecker assisted.
