An armed man fatally shot by the FBI Monday outside CIA Headquarters in McLean, Virginia, was from Dubois County, confirmed Dubois County Sheriff Tom Kleinhelter.
According to news reports, Roy Gordon Cole was shot by an FBI special agent after a "security incident" outside the headquarters during which Cole allegedly emerged from his vehicle with a weapon.
He was transported to the hospital and later died from his injuries.
The FBI said in a tweeted statement that it reviews every shooting incident involving an FBI special agent.
"The review will carefully examine the circumstances of the shooting and collect all relevant evidence from the scene," the FBI statement said. "As the review remains ongoing, we cannot provide any additional details at this time.”
Kleinhelter said Thursday that Cole had no criminal history in Dubois County.
