Survey inquires about food handling

From local sources

INDIANAPOLIS — The Indiana State Department of Health’s Food Protection Division is compiling information to determine if nonprofit organizations should be required to have a certified food handler at events where they serve food to the public. and will be open through Aug. 31.

The state legislative health and finance committee has requested that the health department make a recommendation concerning the food handler requirement. The review stems from Senate Bill 457, a rule concerning food establishment exemptions that passed the Indiana General Assembly this year and went into effect July 1. The division will present the recommendations to the health and finance committee by Oct. 31.
