JASPER — A Friday evening report of a two-vehicle accident in a supermarket parking lot sent a Jasper man to jail.
The Jasper Police Department was called at 6:39 p.m. to the Ruler Foods lot at 155 30th St.
Police allege the driver of a 2000 Pontiac Grand Am at the scene, Jose A. Castellanos, 38, 3828 N. Portersville Road, struck an SUV while impaired.
Castellanos was transported to the Jasper Police Station for a Breathalyzer test but was not able to provide a sufficient sample, according to police. A portable breath test had preliminarily put his blood alcohol content at .112 percent.
Authorities booked Castellanos into the Dubois County Security Center at 9:49 p.m. on preliminary misdemeanor counts of operating while intoxicated (test refusal) and driving while having never been licensed.
Castellanos posted bond Saturday morning.
