Sunset Extension Homemakers Club

The Sunset Extension Homemakers Club met at 4 p.m. Tuesday, June 15, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper. President Sylvia Adams opened the meeting the with the Pledge to the Flag, Club Creed and the Mission Statement. Members sang “In the Good Old Summertime.”

Seven members answered roll call with “Why Did You Join Extension Homemakers?” Secretary Janet Epple gave the secretary’s report, and Denise Smith gave the treasurer’s report.

Hostess Dee Blessinger’s item of interest was about her grandson’s project on maggots, and she said this year he wrote a book “Realms of Virtual” and plans a couple of sequels. He wrote the book when he was 10 years old. Ann Buechler gave the Health and Safety report, “Eight Ways to Help Thinning Hair.” There was no community service.

Mrs. Smith will be the new president for the coming year instead of Priscilla Starkey. Other officers will be Mrs. Starkey, vice president; Judy Hubster, secretary; Dee Blessinger, treasurer; and Janet Epple, health and safety. Hostesses will be Mrs. Epple, July and April; Mrs. Adams, August and May; Mrs. Hubster, September and June; Mrs. Blessinger, October and February; Mrs. Starkey, November; Mrs. Smith, December; and Mrs. Buechler, January and March.

The club was asked to help for check-in at the Dubois County Fair on July 9 and 10.

The next meeting will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, July 20, at Trinity United Church of Christ. The Aug. 17 meeting and picnic will be at 4 p.m. at the Riverwalk.

The Parting Shot, Reflection and Mission Statement were read.

Mrs. Starkey received a birthday gift.

The door prize brought by Mrs. Smith was won by Mrs. Starkey, and the attendance prize went to Mrs. Hubster. Game prizes were won by Mrs. Adams and Mrs. Hubster.
