Sunset Extension Homemakers Club

The Sunset Extension Homemakers Club met at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 19, 2021, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper. Vice President Priscilla Starkey opened the meeting in the absence of President Sylvia Adams with the creed and mission statement. She was also the hostess and led the song of the month, “It’s a Small World.”

Five members answered roll call with “Do you make New Year’s resolutions and are you able to keep them?” Janet Epple gave the secretary’s report. Denise Smith gave the treasurer’s report. Mrs. Starkey showed a towel given to her by her sister showing a pineapple, one of her favorite foods, as the item of interest.

Ann Buechler gave the health and safety lesson, “Home Remedies for Coughs.” There was no community service. Members filled out forms for the church.

Judy Hubster gave a lesson, “Meals in a Mug” and gave out recipes.

Mrs. Starkey talked about the Constitution for citizenship and said she had ordered copies for the members but hadn’t received them yet.

Mrs. Adams sent a gift for Dee Blessinger’s birthday. Mrs. Buechler will give it to her.

Mrs. Starkey gave each member a gift bag.

The next meeting will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 16, at Trinity UCC. Hostess will be Mrs. Hubster, and Mrs. Buechler will give a lesson. Each member should bring a chocolate or cherry recipe for roll call.

Members discussed whether a new extension educator had been named.

The parting shot and reflection were read. The door prize brought by Mrs. Epple was won by Mrs. Buechler. The attendance prize went to Mrs. Epple. Game prizes were won by Mrs. Smith and Mrs. Hubster.
