The Sunset Extension Homemakers Club met at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 20, 2020, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper. President Sylvia Adams opened the meeting with the Pledge to the Flag, the creed and the mission statement.
Five members answered roll call with their favorite ways to volunteer. Janet Epple gave the secretary’s report. Hostess Ann Buechler led the song of the month, “Happy Wanderer.’’ Denise Smith gave the treasurer’s report.
Mrs. Buechler’s health and safety report was “Six Things You Should Never Do Again.” Her citizenship report was “Ten Things You May Not Know About Christopher Columbus.” There was no community service.
Judy Hubster attended the County Council meeting and reported on it. The next council meeting is Dec. 3. She suggested the club meeting be held at 4 p.m. at least until March. All the members voted in favor of the time change. The December meeting will also be at 4 p.m.
The club constitution was read by the members. They discussed the dues and decided they should be changed to $15 a year.
Mrs. Buechler showed her item of interest, a Halloween painting made by a volunteer at Precious Blood. President Adams thanked Mrs. Buechler for being hostess. Members read the reflection and vision statement.
The door prize brought by Mrs. Hubster was won by Mrs. Epple. She also won the attendance prize. Mrs. Buechler gave gift bags to all the members. Mrs. Smith won the first prizes for two games, and Mrs. Hubster won both second prizes. Mrs Buechler also brought a 60th wedding anniversary cake for Janet and Earl Epple and served some to the members.
The next meeting will be at 4 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 17, at Trinity United Church of Christ. Mrs. Smith will be hostess.
