Sunset Extension Homemakers ClubAugust 28, 2020
Because of rain, the Sunset Extension Homemakers Club met for its annual picnic at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 18, at Trinity United Church of Christ in Jasper, instead of at the Riverwalk. Each member brought a bag lunch. President Sylvia Adams was the hostess.
Mrs. Adams opened the meeting. Because of the cancelled Strassenfest, members sang “Roll Out the Barrel” as the song of the month. Six members answered roll call with a memory of their first grade in school.
Janet Epple read the secretary’s report. A correction was made for last month’s report. Ann Buechler had given an extension lesson instead of a health and safety report in July. Denise Smith gave the treasurer’s report.
For health and safety this month, Mrs. Buechler showed a health and immunity book and told of eight ways to avoid germs. For citizenship, Mrs. Adams read an article, “Jasper Bookseller To Close.” As an item of interest, she showed a snow globe with salt crystals from a trip to Salt Lake City. The club had no community service.
Mrs. Adams gave a lesson, “Understanding Hospice.” Mrs. Smith will give a lesson, “Aging Well in Place,” next month.
Mrs. Smith received a birthday gift from Mrs. Adams.
The attendance prize given by Mrs. Adams was won by Mrs. Epple. She also received the door prize brought by Mrs. Buechler. Game prizes were won by Judy Hubster, first, and Priscilla Starkey, second.
The next meeting will be at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 15, outside at Trinity United Church of Christ.
