Sunset Extension Club

The Riverwalk was the location for the August 17th meeting of the Sunset Extension Club. Sylvia Adams was hostess and provided the hotdogs and members brought in a dish to share for the picnic meal.

President Denise Smith opened the meeting with the Pledge to the Flag and the Club Creed. The Secretary and Treasurer’s reports were read and approved. There were seven members answering roll calls with ideas for future Extension lessons.

The song of the month is “Roll Out the Band.” Mrs. Adams had the item of interest; clay wind chimes made in Bolivia. She read an article about a man from Oklahoma who had to walk several hours back and forth from work each day. A stranger gave him a ride and his life was changed after that. Janet Epple gave the Health and Safety lesson. She said that drinking more water is good for your joints, weight, and overall good health.

Mrs. Smith went over possible lessons for the year and members selected ones they wanted to present to the club. She also read a thank you note from Mrs. Adams for the gift she received as outgoing President.

The meeting was closed with the vision statement and Club Reflection. The attendance prize was won by Judy Hubster and door prize by Ms. Smith. She also received a birthday gift from her secret sister. Game prizes went to Ann Buechler and Pricilla Starkey.
