From local sources
IRELAND — Glare from the sun was reported to have led to a Monday morning mishap in Ireland.
Angela K. Jones, 31, Vincennes, was westbound on State Road 56 in a 2004 Ford Taurus when the 9:17 a.m. accident occurred at County Road 250N, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Jones was stopping for the traffic signal at the location when her car was rear-ended by a 2002 Dodge Caravan driven by Lynn F. Auberry, 60, Birdseye, according to the sheriff’s department.
Auberry allegedly told a deputy she was having trouble with sun glare and attempted to pull down her vehicle’s visor. When she did, according to the sheriff’s department, papers came down, distracting her. When she looked up, there was no time to avoid the collision.
Total damage was estimated at less than $1,000 and there were no injuries.
