With two large tarps, a hose, some stakes and four bottles of soap, Alex Hardin and his friends, Jesse Hopf and Zachary Mehringer, all 12 and of Jasper, created their own slide in Hopf’s yard Saturday afternoon. “I’m bubbling up,” Hardin said as he lathered his body with dish soap. The friends spent about two hours sliding down the tarps and taking turns pulling one another on an inflatable tub with a rope.

After he squeezed soap onto his stomach Mehringer slid down the tarps catching soapy water in his face.
