BRETZVILLE — A Gibson County motorist escaped injury early Tuesday when a deer ran from between guardrail sections and onto State Road 64 near the Bretzville Junction.
Lane A. Edwards, 24, Oakland City, was westbound on State Road 64 in a 2017 Ford F-250 when the 12:02 a.m. accident occurred 500 feet east of State Road 162, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
A deputy estimated damage to Edwards’ truck at between $1,000 and $2,500 after it collided with the deer that ran onto the travel portion of the highway from the south.
Police said the deer was located deceased at the scene when the deputy arrived.
Edwards was able to drive from the scene.
