Dubois County spell bowlers penned their way to the top of leaderboards in a statewide contest on Monday evening.
Holy Trinity notched an eighth place finish in the Red Class of the Indiana Academic Spell Bowl Elementary Division. The team spelled 46 of 56 words correctly at last night’s event. Holland Elementary placed 29th in the Red Class class, while Cedar Crest Intermediate’s Red Team finished in 38th place.
With 44 accurate spellings, Tenth Street Elementary earned 24th place in the competition’s Orange Class. Ireland Elementary secured 42nd place in the grouping, and Huntingburg Elementary landed in 54th place.
Cedar Crest’s sixth-grade team was the lone entrance in the local contest’s Green Class. Members spelled 42 words perfectly — good enough for a 12th place ending to their season.
