JASPER — Units of the Jasper Volunteer Fire Department responded to the Indiana Department of Transportation lot at 1967 E. Third Ave. when a vehicle fire was reported Friday.
Fire Chief Kenny Hochgesang said a 2003 Sterling state highway truck had a hydraulic hose leaking, which started a fire at 9:58 a.m.
Those responding set the truck’s attached plow blade down, which took pressure off the hose and stopped the leak.
There was minimal damage, according to Hochgesang.
Two trucks and 21 firefighters were on the scene 20 minutes.
