Stanley Lewis Mitchell, 81, of Eckerty, died on December 2, 2018, at his home. He was born on March 9, 1937, in Eckerty, to the late Emery and Myrtle (Atkins) Mitchell.
He was a former employee of Jasper Rubber Products. He was a member of the NRA and of the Christian Faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughters, Sherry Deweese and Marilyn Scott; a brother, Emmett Mitchell; a great-grandson, Justice Froman and a great-granddaughter, Ariah Deweese.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Macel W. (Hammond) Mitchell; daughters, Mabelew F. Mitchell and Penny A. Gray both of Eckerty; a brother, Larry Mitchell of Jasper; sisters, Goldie Faulkner of Eckerty, and Ethel Merry of English; grandchildren, Dawn Mauck, Travis Scott, David (Bub) Deweese, Heather Deweese, Nathan Deweese, Danny Deweese, Dyla Jo Barrett, Justin Froman, Cody Froman, Jacki Rowley, Macie Moust, and Rocky Gray; great-grandchildren, Jesse, Jayla, Jenna, Cora Mae and Cain Froman, Kyle, Karleigh and Cooper Cox, Brayleigh, Kayden, Braxton and Cascius Deweese and Jaxyn Barrett, Bobby Sanders, Jacob Smith, Levi and Ava Gray, Jerry Goosman, Tyler Ahrens, Ricky and Zaylee Rowley, Teela Gray, Blake and Jolene Mousty and David Lawson; and great-great-grandchildren, Arlene Sanders and Dallas Smith.
The funeral service will be on Wednesday, December 5, 2018, at 1 p.m. at the Fairview General Baptist Church near Taswell. Interment will follow in the Bethany Union Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, December 4, 2018, from 6 to 9 p.m. and on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until time of the service, all at the Fairview General Baptist Church.
Pastor Kim Allen will officiate the service.
