St. Patrick’s Celebration to honor town’s heritage

IRELAND — The Ireland community is celebrating its heritage with a weekend full of events that mark the 10th anniversary of its communitywide celebration.

The annual St. Patrick’s Celebration started earlier this month with the honorary mayor for a day celebration, a home lighting contest, the Miss Shamrock and Little Miss Shamrock pageants and the St. Paddy Whack rock, paper, scissors contest.

The celebration culminates this weekend, and is filled with food, music, contests and fun for all.


4 p.m. Fish Fry at St. Mary Church, cost $9 per plate.

6 p.m. Dodgeball tournament at Ireland Elementary School Gym, admission $1, preschoolers free.


8 a.m. Irish Trot 5K run/walk starts at Ireland Elementary, registration $25; St. Patty’s Breakfast at the Ireland Knights of Columbus; St. Patrick’s Craft & Vendor Show starts at Ireland Elementary School Gym.

9 a.m. O’Blarney Kids Games at Ireland Fire Station; For Patty’s Sake Bake-Off at St. Mary Church Community Center, free entry.

10 a.m. Ireland Historical Society open house; chicken and dumplings served at the Chicken Place lot, $17 per gallon, preorders must be picked up between 8:30 and 10 a.m.

11 a.m. Irish Burger Slider Contest on the Ireland Knights of Columbus grounds, $5 for 5 slider tastings.

Noon Irish O’Ducky on the Ireland Knights of Columbus grounds, cost $2 per duck.

1 p.m. Spud Launch on the south side of Ireland Elementary, cost $1 per potato.

1:30 p.m. Luck O’ The Pubs scavenger hunt starts at Leed Selling Tools parking lot, entry fee $25.

4:30 p.m. Irish Mass at St. Mary Church.

5:30 p.m. Supper, Surprises & Shenanigans, St. Mary Church Community Center, tickets $25.


9 a.m. Bar-B-Q Chicken & Pork Chop Dinners at the Ireland Knights of Columbus, $12 per plate.

10 a.m. Irish Mass at St. Mary Church; Irish Service at St. John’s Lutheran Church.

10:30 a.m. Irish Heritage Service at Grace and Truth Church.

1 p.m. Parade, streets of Ireland.

3 p.m. Celebration Singers perform at St. Mary Church, a freewill donation will be collected.
