St. Anthony firefighters find burning railroad tie

From Local Sources

BRETZVILLE — Units of the St. Anthony Volunteer Fire Department responded this morning when a small field fire was reported along railroad tracks west of the Bretzville Junction.

Fire Chief Scott Uebelhor said firefighters answering the 6:42 a.m. call found one small fire involving a railroad tie along State Road 64 tracks west of State Road 162.

Uebelhor said the department extinguished the fire, which was likely caused by something hot from a passing train dropping onto the tracks. Firefighters searched the tracks between St. Anthony and Huntingburg but found no other problems.

One truck and 15 firefighters were out 15 minutes.
