St. Anthony American Legion Auxiliary Post 493November 18, 2020
Members of St. Anthony American Legion Auxiliary Post 493 held their meeting on Wednesday, Sept. 23, in the Post Home. The meeting was opened with the advancement of the colors, pledge of allegiance and auxiliary preamble.
President Jane Jenkins presided and Chaplin Angie Hall led the prayer. Draping of the Charter was held for Doris Schnell, Rosetta Hasenour, Marita Hasenour and Ruth Goepfrich.
The treasurer, Mary Lueken, gave her report. Other chairmanship items were reported on and discussed. ALA is celebrating their 100 years. For Americanism, members discussed painting and placing 100 patriotic rocks around the community as part of the ALA Americanism 100 Challenge. The committee for this would work out these details by phone.
VA&R chairman reminds us they are still collecting stamps in their Program Action Plan to assist and enhance the lives of Veterans and their families. This is an easy thing that all members can do, collecting stamps for the wounded. These are canceled stamps that you get on your mail. You can ask your family, friends, neighbors, or other club members to help.
The Christmas party was discussed and Marilyn Heidorn and Rose Leisman will hostess the party. It will be Monday, Dec. 7. Doors open at 6 p.m. and catered meal served at 6:30. Silent auction and gift exchange will be the same as last year.
UPDATES: 100 stones were painted in patriotic colors and placed around the community in time for Veterans Day.
Due to COVID-19, the Christmas Party has been postponed. This was due to request by members calling with concerns due to increase in positive cases. The officers were all contacted by phone and voted for the postponement.
