Spencer County man charged with criminal mischief

From Local Sources

JASPER — A Spencer County man was booked into jail Thursday on a Dubois Circuit Court warrant charging him with criminal mischief.

Court documents indicate the misdemeanor charge stems from an August incident in which Rick G. Speer, 25, 917 S. Main St., Chrisney, allegedly pulled a Mentor-area resident’s electric meter and threw it into woods near the residence.

A warrant for Speer’s arrest was issued in September after he failed to come to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office to discuss the issue after authorities say he indicated he would.

Authorities booked Speer into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:34 a.m. Thursday on the active warrant. He appeared in court later that morning, pleaded guilty and was released from custody.
