Speeding stop results in arrest

IRELAND — A Friday evening traffic stop north of Ireland sent the driver to jail.

Police stopped a 2005 Hyundai in the vicinity of county roads 500W and 300N for allegedly speeding on County Road 400N.

The Dubois County Sheriff’s Department discovered the driver, Alexander W. Paugh, 20, Indianapolis, had a suspended license and was wanted on multiple failure-to-appear warrants out of Dubois County.

Authorities booked Paugh into the Dubois County Security Center at 8:04 p.m. on the outstanding warrant and on a preliminary misdemeanor count of driving while suspended (prior). Police said he was also cited for speeding.
