Speeding stop brings OWI arrest

HUNTINGBURG — Police accused a Huntingburg man of driving while impaired after a Thursday night traffic stop.
An Indiana State Police trooper stopped a 2007 GMC driven by Leonel A. Hernandez, 29, 911 S. Main St., Huntingburg, at 9:54 p.m. for traveling 79 mph in a 55 mph zone on U.S. 231 north of Huntingburg.
A Huntingburg Police Department K-9 was brought to the scene and police reported finding marijuana. Hernandez later tested positive for marijuana in his system during testing at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, according to police.
Authorities booked Hernandez into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:07 a.m. today on preliminary misdemeanor counts that included operating while intoxicated (controlled substance) and possession of marijuana.
