Speeding stop brings impaired driving arrest

HUNTINGBURG — The Dubois County Sheriff’s Office accused a motorist of impaired driving after a traffic stop late Wednesday night.

A deputy stopped a 2010 Jeep driven by Joshua P. Songer, 30, 917 Shelby St., Huntingburg, at 11:23 p.m. at U.S. 231 and Phoenix Drive after allegedly clocking the vehicle traveling at 68 mph in the 55 mph zone.

The sheriff’s office alleges Songer showed signs of impairment and had a blood alcohol content that tested .20% after a blood draw at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

Authorities booked Songer into the Dubois County Security Center at 1:11 a.m. today on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated.
