Speeding motorist accused of OWI

JASPER — Police accused a speeding motorist of impaired driving after a traffic stop early Sunday.

A Jasper Police Department officer stopped a 2015 Ford Mustang driven by Jose Silva Desdin, 48, 305 W. 42nd St., Jasper, at 2:43 a.m. at 16th and Newton streets after clocking the car traveling 45 mph in a 30 mph zone and observing it cross the centerline several times.

Police said Silva Desdin showed signs of impairment and his blood alcohol content tested .18% at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

Authorities booked Silva Desdin into the Dubois County Security Center at 5:01 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He posted bond Sunday evening.
