Speeding motorist accused of OWIMay 30, 2019

JASPER — Police arrested a speeding motorist Wednesday, accusing him of impaired driving.
A Jasper Police Department officer observed a 2006 Ford Escape westbound on 15th Street near Cherry Street traveling at 67 mph in the 30 mph zone at 9:55 a.m. The officer said the SUV continued westbound into a 25 mph zone at the same high rate of speed.
A traffic stop followed at 15 and Royal streets, with the driver identified as Charles L. Cole, 50, 1340 Jackson St., Jasper.
Police report that Cole’s blood alcohol content tested .22%.
Authorities booked Cole into the Dubois County Security Center at 11:34 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated with an endangerment enhancement due to his high rate of speed and high blood alcohol content.
An officer also ticketed Cole for speeding.
A Ruxer Ford wrecker assisted.
