Speeding motorist accused of impaired driving

HUNTINGBURG — The driver of a speeding car pulled over early Saturday in Huntingburg was arrested and accused of impaired driving.

The Huntingburg Police Department stopped a 2001 Pontiac Grand Prix at 1 a.m. because the car was traveling 72 mph in the 45 mph zone in the 2200 block of North Main Street.

Police reported observing that the driver, Daniel Tijerina, 33, 3950 Manor Drive, Jasper, had been drinking. A blood draw at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center placed Tijerina’s blood alcohol content at .16 percent.

Authorities booked Tijerina into the Dubois County Security Center at 3:09 a.m. on a preliminary misdemeanor count of operating while intoxicated. He posted bond Saturday afternoon.
