Forest Park recorded victories in both baseball and softball Monday, while Heritage Hills continued its strong start on the baseball diamond with a victory over a tough foe.
Here’s a brief rundown of area prep sports action.
Raiders 7, Jeeps 0: Lydia Genet pitched seven shutout innings with one strikeout and three walks as the Southridge Raiders blanked the Northeast Dubois Jeeps for their seventh win of the season. Kennedy Nalley had two hits and drove in two runs, while Megan Buechler and Peyton Nalley each clocked a double with an RBI. Maci Marley also drove in a run with two outs.
The Jeeps had eight hits in the game, but were unable to cash in, as they dropped their fourth game in a row
Lions 7, Rangers 3: Forest Park had a rough outing against Loogootee as the Lions used 13 hits to ring up seven runs enroute to their win.
Macie Zink was 2 for 3 with one run driven in and Kyle Giesler was 1 for 2 with an RBI, while Kennedy Sermersheim was 1 for 3 with a double. Amber Theising also had two hits and an RBI.
Bulldogs 8, Jeeps 4: The slump continues for the Northeast Dubois Jeeps as they dropped their ninth game of the season with a loss to the Bulldogs. Logan Mehringer, Bryce Merkel and Ethan Ziegler each had an RBI in the game.
Wildcats beat Commodores, Marksmen: The Jasper boys golf team enjoyed home course advantage, as they defeated Perry Central and Tell City at Buffalo Trace with a score of 165.
Landon Kissel medaled with a score of 37. Rounding out scoring for the Wildcats were Jack Bies (39), Avery Hollinden (39), Nick Buechlein (50) and Luke Ackerman (53).
Raiders fall to Vikings: The Southridge Raiders fell a bit short in their head-to-head match up with the North Posey Vikings, who beat them 182 to195.
Michael Kappner was the low man for the Raiders with a 44. Coby Reller (49), Owen Kinker (50), Carson Mundy (52), Tristan Boerner (52) and Aidan Blessinger (53) rounded out the scoring.
Raiders 3, Trojans 2: Southridge’s pairings were on point in its match against Wood Memorial, as the Raiders swept the doubles competiton and won their two singles match to claim victory over the Trojans.
Audra Hochgesang and Jordan Biehl defeated Taylor Houchins and Ashton Stone 6-1, 6-0. Corey Peters and Kelby LaRoche took down Bree Rowe & Kiersten Brittons 6-1, 6-3, and Olivia Durcholz beat Rachel Pollock 6-0, 6-1.
Vikings 3, Rangers 2: Forest Park fought a tough contest against Barr-Reeve on Monday night, but the Vikings were able to do just enough to edge the Rangers.
Haylie Marks topped Lisa Hostettler 7-6 (7-1), 6-2, and the doubles combo of Molly Lusk and Kaylee Uebelhor sank Kadee Claridge and Kaitlyn 7-5, 3-6, 6-3.
