Sorrells wins speech contest

The annual Rotary Club of Jasper Speech Contest was held on Feb. 23 in the lower level conference room at the Memorial Hospital Medical Arts Building, Jasper, for Dubois County high school students. Shambly Sorrells from Northeast Dubois High School placed first in the contest and received a $500 scholarship. Emily Patterson from Jasper High School was the runner-up and received a $250 scholarship. Shambly will advance to the Rotary District Speech Contest on March 23 in Bedford. The event was coordinated by the Jasper High School Interact Club and sponsored by the Rotary Club of Jasper.
