Sorority awards four scholarships

Jasper Delta Tau Chapter of Kappa Kappa Kappa Inc. has awarded scholarships to four Jasper High School graduates.

 

Samuel Kluemper is the winner of the Jorene Brewer Memorial Scholarship. He will be attending Indiana University-Purdue University at Indianapolis and majoring in engineering. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class and is a member of the National Honor Society. He earned six varsity letters, Indiana Football Coaches Association’s Academic All-State and Big Eight Conference Team. Kluemper is an Eagle Scout, winner of the Eddie J. Rottet Memorial Award and a member of 4-H, Junior Leaders and Precious Blood Catholic Church. He is the son of Jennifer and Daryl Kluemper.

 

 

 

 

The winner of the Carolyn Wendholt Buehler Memorial Scholarship is Nathan Mehringer. He is the son of Lori and Todd Mehringer and will attend either Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology or Purdue University, where he will major in electrical engineering. He graduated in the top 10 percent of his class. He was a member of the National Honor Society and a Boys Hoosier State delegate. Mehringer participated in soccer and track four years, marching and symphonic bands, Students Against Destructive Decisions and Key Club. He is an Eagle Scout, winner of the Eddie J. Rottet Memorial Award and a 10-year member of 4-H.

 

 

 

 

Kennedy Nicholson is the Karen Place Schwinghammer Memorial Scholarship winner. She will be attending Xavier University and majoring in biology this fall. She graduated in the top 10 percent of her class and was a marching and symphonic band member as well as being band co-president. Nicholson was a member of the National Honor Society and Key Club. She belonged to 4-H for 10 years and Girl Scouts for 13 years. She is the daughter of Trish and Lonnie Nicholson.


 

 

 

 

The Ann Knies Boeglin Memorial Scholarship winner is Cecilia Sanchez. She is the daughter of Joyce and Douglas Sanchez and will major in industrial design at Purdue University. She was a member of the National Honor Society, Society of Fine Arts, Spanish Club, Robotics as well as marching and pep bands. Sanchez was band flute section leader, was the resident artist for the Jasper Chalk Walk and vacation Bible school volunteer.
