Sorells competes in speech contest

Northeast Dubois High School student Shambly Sorrells, winner of the Jasper Rotary Club speech contest, competed in the Rotary District 6580 four-way Test Speech Contest on March 23 in Bedford. Sorrells received $500 for her speech and was the first runner-up.

The purpose of District 6580’s speech contest was to encourage students to become aware of Rotary and its commitment to leadership and service. The topics were leadership and service.

Maya Federle from Columbus took first place and Molly Treadway from Vincennes was second runner-up.
