Soccer academy head jailed for child seduction

NEWBURGH — The owner of a Newburgh soccer academy was arrested Thursday on a warrant charging him with felony child seduction and misdemeanor intimidation.

Indiana State Police initiated a criminal investigation on Monday after receiving information that Jeremy M. Tudela, 37, of Evansville, allegedly had sexual contact with one of his female soccer students.

During the investigation, Indiana State Police Detectives Josh Greer and Rob Gardner were able to determine Tudela is the owner of Tudela Soccer Academy in Newburgh and the female victim was under the age of 16. The investigation also revealed Tudela allegedly had sexual contact with the female on several occasions between November 2018 and this June.

After reviewing the investigation, the Vanderburgh County Prosecutor’s Office issued a felony warrant for Tudela’s arrest on four Level 5 felony counts of child seduction and a misdemeanor count of intimidation.

Tudela was arrested near his residence at 1:30 p.m. Thursday without incident and taken to the Vanderburgh County Jail where he is currently being held on a $20,000 cash bond.
