Snow people invade museum

JASPER — The Dubois County Museum has set up a display of fun and cuddly snowmen or snow people throughout the museum. The snow people collection is on loan from Anna Knebel, county resident. The display will run until Feb. 28.

Knebel will be at the museum from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 27, for an open house. The public is invited to attend to meet Knebel. Food and refreshments will be served. Children may want to have their picture taken with her life-size cloth snowman that is resting in a chair on the log house porch.

She has brought in 273 snow people from her collection of more than 600 pieces. As with any collector, Knebel started her collection with a few snowmen. She decided to collect snowmen because she could display them from early in the holiday season to late into the winter season.

Knebel has arranged her snow people into several display cases at the museum, in and out exhibits, and has selected soft and fluffy pieces for children to hug and love in the children’s area when they visit. More pieces are displayed as a winter scene in the log house area and on the log house porch.
