From Local Sources
SCHNELLVILLE — Snow and ice were factors in a single-car mishap Friday morning in Schnellville.
Lyndsey P. Correll, 22, Celestine, was westbound on Schnellville Road in a 1997 Mitsubishi Eclipse when the 7:45 a.m. accident occurred at Market Street, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Department.
Correll told a deputy she was going 30 mph but, when she applied her car’s brakes, the Eclipse slid sideways on snow and ice.
The car went off the north side of the roadway, where the rear portion of the vehicle struck a fence, according to the sheriff’s department. A deputy said the car continued backward down an embankment and stopped facing southeast in a ditch.
Damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
