Smith takes second place at state

Makenize Smith can call herself a state runner-up.
The freshman girls wrestler at Heritage Hills came in second place in the 106-pound class Friday at the Indiana High School Girls Wrestle State Tournament Friday at Hamilton Heights.
Smith pinned Daleville senior Maddi Dilts in the first round, and Edgewood junior Rylie Austin in the second round to advance to the championship match. Senior Kelsey Bilz of Madison Consolidated bested Smith in the championship match by a 2-1 decision.
