Skeletal remains identified as missing man

LAWRENCEBURG — State police say skeletal remains found earlier this week in southeastern Indiana have been identified as those of a man who vanished in 2017.

The remains were discovered Sunday by someone who was walking through a heavily wooded area near the Ohio River city of Lawrenceburg, Indiana, about 30 miles (48 kilometers) west of Cincinnati.

Indiana State Police said Wednesday dental records were used to identify the remains as those of Josh Batchelor, who was last seen in May 2017.

State police had been investigating Batchelor's disappearance, and now they're investigating the Dearborn County man's death.

Police say that investigators, including forensic anthropologists from the University of Indianapolis, searched Monday and Tuesday in the area where Batchelor's remains were found and discovered additional remains believed to be from Batchelor.
