Sisters excel in government testing

JASPER — Jasper American Legion Post 147 of Jasper announces the winners of the American Legion Senior and Junior Americanism and Government Testing program from local home-schooled students.

Emilee Seitz was the top overall sophomore female winner in the American Legion Americanism and Government testing program.

Abigayle Seitz was the top overall eight-grade female winner in the Junior American Legion Americanism and government testing program.

Emilee and Abby are the daughters of Katrina and Mark Seitz of Velpen and are students of the Seitz Home School Academy.

Each student received an Americanism Medallion from the American Legion Post 147 and a post certificate.  Emilee and Abby were the 8th District winners and received a $50 Visa Card.

The annual testing program was started by The American Legion in 1984 and covers American history topics like the Civil War, the colonies, flag information and the Constitution.
