Sideswipe collision occurs in Haysville

HAYSVILLE — No injuries were reported when a sideswipe collision occurred late Friday afternoon in Haysville.
Floyd S. Napier, 45, Jasper, was southbound on U.S. 231 in a 1994 Chevrolet 1500 series pickup truck when the 5:20 p.m. mishap occurred at Park Street, according to the Dubois County Sheriff’s Office.
Napier was making a right turn onto Park Street but was not noticed by southbound motorist Garet S. Helmken, 24, Jasper, who was in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee, according to the sheriff’s office.
Helmken veered to the right in an attempt to go around the Napier truck, with the result being that Helmken’s SUV sideswiped the truck.
Total damage was estimated between $2,500 and $5,000.
