Sickbert is Optimist Youth of the Month

HUNTINGBURG — Grace Sickbert, 17, daughter of Chad and Billie Sickbert, is the September Huntingburg Optimist Youth of the Month.

While in high school, Sickbert has been a member of the basketball and track and field teams. She has received the first-team Academic All-State award for both basketball and track and field. She also was selected from the Southridge Class of 2020 to be a Rising Star of Indiana.   

In addition to sports, Sickbert has been a member of the Key Club, Kindness Crew/Friends of Rachel, the Outdoors Club, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Natural Helpers, Student Council and the National FFA Organization.

As a result of her academic success, Sickbert was inducted into the National Honor Society and has received the corporation’s academic excellence award each year of high school. She also has been named Student of the Month for technology and is a valedictorian candidate for the Class of 2020.    

Outside of school, Sickbert is a member of 4-H, St. James Lutheran Church Youth Group and the Huntingburg Mayor’s Youth Council. 

Sickbert plans to attend Purdue University where she will study chemical engineering.
