From Local Sources
SHOALS — A Martin County man was killed in a single-vehicle crash Monday night along a highway just east of Shoals.
Pronounced dead at the scene of the 8:49 p.m. crash on U.S. 50 was 22-year-old Grady Key of Shoals, according to the Martin County Sheriff’s Office.
Police say Key was westbound on U.S. 50 when, for an unknown reason, the pickup truck he was driving went off the north side of the highway and struck a road sign. The vehicle stopped on the south side of the highway in a ditch after crossing the eastbound lane and catching fire.
The accident remains under investigation.
The Martin County Coroner’s Office, Shoals Volunteer Fire Department and Martin County Ambulance Service assisted.
